Boy is there irony in the news.
The ITU Conference (International Telecommunications Union) has kicked off to discuss standards of interconnectivity globally (read a bit about that here: trib.in/QuRXZo).
Incongruously, “Internet and cut mobile phone services across Syria have been cut as rebels and government troops waged fierce battles near the capital’s airport… Syria effectively disappeared from the internet at 12:26 pm local time” on November 29th (http://bit.ly/WyB8L5). Meaning, someone cut the people off completely. “Who did it?” is an entirely different question. *More here from the Canadian Press (http://bit.ly/TwDZa6).
CloudFlare, a web performance and security company, explains the outage in further detail here (http://bit.ly/SyQTSF).
I wonder if this will have any influence when the ITU meets.
